Puget Sound Energy offers two rebate tiers. Standard customers receive up to $300 for a qualifying ENERGY STAR Smart Level 2 charger. Income-qualified customers through Empower Mobility receive up to $600 for the charger plus up to $2,000 toward installation costs. Apply within 60 days of installation. Puget Sound Energy serves approximately 1.2 million electric customers across portions of King, Pierce, Thurston, Kittitas, Skagit, Whatcom, and Snohomish counties in Washington State. The utility operates two distinct EV charger rebate programs and understanding which one applies to your household makes a significant financial difference.
The standard PSE Up and Go Electric Home Charging Program pays up to $300 for purchasing and installing a qualifying ENERGY STAR Smart Level 2 EV charger from PSE's prequalified product list. You can receive this as an instant rebate when purchasing through the PSE Marketplace or as a reimbursement after submitting your receipt and installation documentation within 60 days of installation. One rebate is allowed per qualifying single-family residence within a 5-year window.
The PSE Empower Mobility program is a dramatically more generous program for income-qualified customers. Qualifying households receive up to $600 for the charger itself plus up to $2,000 toward installation costs. For a household where a standard PSE installation might cost $1,500 total, the Empower Mobility program could cover essentially the entire cost. This program reflects PSE's commitment to ensuring that EV adoption benefits extend beyond high-income households.

PSE residential customer with electric service Your home must receive electricity from Puget Sound Energy. Seattle City Light customers do not qualify for PSE programs.

The PSE Flex EV Program Earn Extra Bill Credits
Beyond the charger rebate, PSE offers the Flex EV program that pays bill credits when your vehicle participates in grid demand response events. During periods of peak grid demand PSE may send signals to your connected charger to temporarily pause or reduce charging speed. In exchange PSE pays you for participating in these events. Enrollment rewards are paid for each eligible charger or EV enrolled in the program.
